He was born in Quito – Ecuador in 1975. He discovered his passion for photography in 1993, at the age of 19 he became part of the team of photojournalists of El Comercio newspaper in Quito, since then he found in this profession his way of expression.

He has been part of several photojournalism teams, among the most important are: Diario El Comercio, Agence France Press, Bloomberg NY Agency, Archivo Latino, and has developed several editorial projects in Ecuador.

Throughout his career he has received several awards for his photographic work, such as an honorable mention in the photography contest of the Inter American Press Association (SIP), and first place in the Jorge Mantilla Ortega award for his work “Vida de Topos” published in SOHO Ecuador magazine, among others.

He has been part of several photojournalism teams, among the most important are: Diario El Comercio, Agence France Press, Bloomberg NY Agency, Archivo Latino, and has developed several editorial projects in Ecuador.

His book Afrodisiaco, created with Fernando Espinosa, received the “Lorenzo de Medici Grand Prix” award at the fifth edition of the Miami River Art Fair, one of the most important contemporary art events in the world in 2016.

 

His photographic work has been exhibited in Ecuador, the United States, Berlin, Guatemala, France, and he has published books such as Afrodisiaco, Tren al Sol, Sueños, La Mirada y la Memoria, El sabor de la Memoria, among others.

Photographic director of the print edition of Ñan magazine (2012 – 2019) where he contributed with his photographic and stylistic skills to 38 editions of this local publication, focused on the promotion of tourism in Ecuador.

One of his skills and strengths is the creation and Directing of work teams for audiovisual and communication projects, this allows him to work with specialists who contribute to the ideas from a collaborative teamwork.

In 2020 takes the pandemic as a starting point to found Inventario Documental, conceived as a high quality photographic boutique that highlights day to day stories from the Amazon, the Andes and the South Pacific.

This project creates a platform to support projects with a focus on social development, environmental education, culture and tourism, from a formal and professional documentation of the region.
